Dancing and dreaming together can generate an exciting form of unbalance, which leads to surprising experiences of individual and collective adaptability and rejuvenation. We will explore the unique geometric movements of mystic, trickster, and spiritual teacher GI Gurdjieff. At the same time we will create dance/choreographic material from the nightly dreams of the participants, focusing on the connections between dream images and the body’s felt sense. Gurdjieff’s dances invite us to divide our attention and melt into a larger field of being, while dreamwork connects us to strong images, feelings, and sensations with mysterious origins. Taken together, these two seemingly opposite approaches to depth will take us further down the rabbit hole in our historical moment in which reality refuses to stay real.
