Summer residences in the Brussels community centres: open call in collaboration with the Kunstenwerkplaats

Are you a professional artist? Do you have a clear link to Brussels? And are you looking for space for your research or project? Once again this summer, the Brussels community centres are making some rooms available free of charge. All disciplines are welcome.

During the residency, you will have a workspace where you can develop your artistic project or research (max. four weeks). No technical support or compensation will be provided. But you can use the space for free. We help you find the most suitable location. At the end of the summer, De Kunstenwerkplaats will accept some of the residents in a follow-up trajectory.

In these centres, there are one or several rooms available (different types, not always the theatre room):
  • Anderlecht - GC De Rinck
  • Brussel (vijfhoek) - GC De Markten
  • Elsene - GC Elzenhof
  • Evere - GC Everna
  • Ganshoren - GC De Zeyp
  • Haren - GC De Linde
  • Jette - GC Essegem
  • Koekelberg - GC De Platoo
  • Laken - GC Nekkersdal
  • Neder-Over-Heembeek - GC Nohva
  • Oudergem - GC Den Dam
  • Schaarbeek - GC De Kriekelaar
  • Sint-Agatha-Berchem - GC De Kroon
  • Sint-Gillis - GC Pianofabriek
  • Sint-Jans-Molenbeek - GC De Vaartkapoen
  • Sint-Joost-ten-Node - GC Ten Noey
  • Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe - GC Op-Weule
  • Sint-Pieters-Woluwe - GC Kontakt
  • Ukkel - GC Het Huys
  • Vorst - GC Ten Weyngaert
  • Watermaal-Bosvoorde - GC WaBo

After 24 May, De Kunstenwerkplaats, VGC and the community centres will review all submissions, make a selection and allocate the most suitable available space. You will receive a proposal on June at the latest. We do our best to give everyone a workspace. If there are more applications than spaces available, allocation will depend on the artistic quality of the proposal and the applicant's artistic trajectory. We also give preference to starting artists with a clear link to Brussels.
